PE Intent, Implementation and Impact Statement
"Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill." Muhammad Ali
At Iqra, Physical Education is a vital part of our curriculum, shaping not only active bodies but also active minds. We aim to inspire a generation that not only enjoys PE but thrives in it - encouraging one another to achieve their personal bests.
Our focus is on fostering a culture of health and fitness where every child feels empowered to explore a variety of physical activities. We provide a safe and supportive environment that nurtures their physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and moral development. We believe that engaging in sports and physical challenges helps children develop essential life skills, such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.
We encourage our children to adopt a positive growth mindset, instilling the belief that, with determination and resilience, they can overcome any obstacle. This mindset is key to their success, not just in sports but in all areas of life.
"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will." — Vince Lombardi
Leadership is another core value we promote. We provide opportunities for children to take on leadership roles in team activities and projects, helping them build confidence and communication skills. By encouraging them to lead, we empower our young learners to inspire their peers and take ownership of their health and fitness journeys.
At Iqra, we are committed to shaping well-rounded individuals who are not only physically fit but also equipped with the leadership skills necessary to make a positive impact in their communities. Together, we strive to create a culture where every child can flourish and embrace the joy of an active lifestyle!
Leading a healthy lifestyle is paramount in today’s society. Iqra has taken on this challenge and is leading the way across Slough in delivering and providing opportunities not only for the pupils but for the staff and parents alike. Working closely with Slough Borough Council, Iqra is hosting a number of different projects, such as:
SAINSBURY KITE MARK:
Iqra is thrilled to announce that we have achieved the Sainsbury School Games PLATINUM Kite Mark! We are proud to be the first school in Slough to earn this prestigious award since 2018 and to maintain it to this day. This accomplishment reflects our commitment to excellence in sports and physical education, inspiring our students to embrace active and healthy lifestyles.
We’re incredibly proud of our former Iqra students who are now leading primary pupils at the badminton festivals. One student shared: “Iqra gave us the skills and knowledge to be confident leaders and to inspire others to be passionate about sport.” (Attending Eden Girls School)
The Sainsbury’s School Games Mark is run by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and is implemented and developed by the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England. The Mark rewards school’s for their commitment to and the development of competition, school sport and physical education throughout the year.

DAILY MILE SCHEME: is a project where every pupil and member of staff walks or run a mile each day. Exercise has been proven not only to get you fitter but actually makes you brainier! https://thedailymile.co.uk/
LET’S GET GOING: This club is a programme especially designed to work alongside parents and pupils to educate everyone on how to lead a healthy lifestyle. Every member of staff is getting a free health check, and local links have been set up so parents and pupils can access free local sporting facilities. Every pupil knows the importance of a healthy heart. With regular exercise and the correct diet, Iqra is taking the right steps in improving everyone’s lives.
